Computer Programmer Track
|
|
Benefits
Computer Programmer is one of the most
mentally challenging and rewarding career in Computing.
The Computer Programming Track gives you the skills to start a career as a
computer programmer. It consists of the following levels:
 | Foundation Programming. |
 | Advanced Programming |
 | Certification Level |
The Foundation Programming level starts with a
course on Databases
using Microsoft Access. Databases are prevalent in most applications used by
large organization in Guyana and the world. A clear understanding of
relational databases is essential to all programmers.
This database course also prepares candidates for the MOS Access 2003
Certification. Click Here for information on the MOS Master Certification >>>
A programming course using the C programming language is used to provide a solid
foundation in programming. C is the programming language used in
several universities to teach the fundamentals of programming.
Advanced Programming level exposes student to three commonly used
programming languages in the industry, namely Visual Basic, C++ and
Java. Students are then taught the Structured Query Language (SQL) - the
language used by all major databases such as SQL Server and Oracle to
manipulate relational databases. In the fifth course, students are
taught to create, manipulate and administer databases in Microsoft SQL
Server. Microsoft SQL Server is a commercially used Relational Data
Management System (RDMS) that allows you to store, analyse and retrieve
millions of records. The final course brings together the knowledge in
the first five courses to develop database applications using Microsoft
Access and Visual Basic. Certification Level
builds on the knowledge gained so far and prepares students for the
Microsoft Certified Professional Exam 70-305 (Developing and
Implementing Web Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and
Microsoft Visual Studio .NET)
On completion of the Computer Programmer package, you can apply for the
position of a Computer Programmer or Web Programmer. You would have
gained adequate knowledge to create a variety of business applications such as data driven web
applications, inventory control, custom finance applications and payroll applications. |

Foundation Database
Microsoft Office Specialist - Access 2003
Course
Fee: Guy $10,000
Prerequisites: Foundation Package |

 |
This is a course in the use of
Microsoft Access 2003 Database software. The aim of this course is to teach the
student basic relational database theory and the techniques in creating
and using the various database objects supported by Access 2003. This
course does not assume any prior knowledge of databases or database
theory, though such knowledge will be an asset.
Topics covered in this course include: planning and designing databases,
working with Access 2003, building and modifying tables, building select and
action queries, building and
modifying forms, viewing and organizing information and producing reports.
This course also prepares candidates for the MOS Access 2003 Certification. Click Here for information on the MOS Master Certification >>> |

Foundation Programming
using C
Course
Fee: Guy $10,000
Prerequisites: Foundation Package |
C |
| This is an introductory course
on Programming using the C programming Language. This course assumes no prior
knowledge of programming. The aim of this course is to teach the student
the fundamentals and the correct principles of programming, including
design, coding and testing. After the course the student should have
gained sufficient knowledge to progress to the Advanced Programming
courses. |
|
Advanced Programming
using Visual Basic
Course
Fee: Guy $15,000
Prerequisites: Foundation Package, Foundation
Programming |
 |
|
The aim of this course is to teach
the student how to create graphical applications in Visual Basic.
This course teaches the Visual Basic Integrated Development Environment
(IDE) and its wealth of development tools. Students will learn to build
effective user interfaces with Visual Basic controls, forms, and other
GUI components. The Visual Basic language is covered in detail. Students
will also learn the use of the debugging and testing tools. |
|
Advanced Programming
using Java
Course
Fee: Guy $15,000
Prerequisites: Foundation Package, Foundation
Programming |
 |
|
The aim of this course is to teach
the student how to create applications using the popular object
oriented language Java. This course provides students with information
about the syntax of the Java, object-oriented programming with the
Java, creating graphical user interfaces (GUIs), exceptions, file
input/output (I/O), and threads. |
|
Advanced Programming
using C++
Course
Fee: Guy $15,000
Prerequisites: Foundation Package, Foundation
Programming |
C++ |
|
C++ remains the premier object-oriented language. The aim of this course is to teach
the student object oriented programming using C++. Students will
learn to build effective user interfaces with C++ controls, forms, and other GUI
components. The C++ language is covered in detail including classes and objects.
Students will also learn the use of the debugging and file processing. |
|
Structured Query Language (SQL)
Course
Fee: Guy $10,000
Prerequisites: Foundation Package, Foundation
Database |
SQL |
|
Structured Query Language (SQL) is the language used by all
major database applications to manipulate data. A detail understanding
of the SQL is essential to creating database applications and managing
large relational databases. Using SQL, students will learn to create,
manipulate and analyze large databases. |
